The past four years have seen a dramatic swing in the fortunes of Myanmar’s people. On 13th November 2010 Aung San Suu Kyi was released from 15 years house arrest. In 2011 her party, the National League of Democracy, lifted their boycott on tourism for the first time in 10 years. To date, it is estimated up to 2,000 political prisoners have been released in the run up to the 2015 General Election. After generations of oppression and corruption, Myanmar is on the path to a brighter future.
